About Abernethy Laurels
Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Western North Carolina, Abernethy Laurels is the largest United Church Homes and Services community. Abernethy Laurels combines elegant independent housing with full-service accommodations on a fee-for-service basis all on one campus. The convenience of Charlotte, Boone/Blowing Rock, Hickory, and Asheville makes Abernethy Laurels an appealing destination for a retirement lifestyle focused on health, wellness, culture, education and fun.
History

History

Abernethy Laurels is owned and operated by United Church Homes and Services (UCHS), a not for profit ministry with 14 programs at 11 sites in North Carolina and Virginia.  Abernethy Laurels was the first community  developed by UCHS and is one of three continuing care retirement communities operated by UCHS. There is a rich history on the campus of Abernethy Laurels and all the streets and cul-de-sacs are named for individuals who were instrumental in the history and development of this community.

UCHS Foundation

UCHS Foundation

The United Church Homes and Services Foundation was established to solicit, safeguard and disburse funds in support of the charitable work and ministry of United Church Homes and Services with special emphasis on financial assistance for residents and staff. The Foundation currently supports residents at Abernethy Laurels who have outlived their assets or who qualify for other benevolence assistance. The Foundation has also funded resident programs, building renovation and improvement to other campus space that helps enrich the lives of Abernethy Laurels residents.
