Thanks to the hard work of Rev. Dosia Carlson, the residents, and staff of Abernethy Laurels, a Feathered Friends Fair was held on Friday, July 23rd at the Community Center. "This project really brought together people from all areas of Abernethy Laurels and the outside community, as well" commented Rev. Carlson.
Hickory Community Theatre's Encore Players entertained over 100 residents, guests and staff at Abernethy Laurels with their production of "The Perils of Precious Penelope" during a mini dinner theatre on July 8th.
Abernethy was the site of an old-fashioned Block Party on Tuesday, June 15, 2010. Guests arrived via the Abernethy Laurels shuttle bus, golf cart, cars and even by walking through the community.
It was a celebration of life and the release of nearly 200 butterflies on June 6th. Residents, friends, family members and staff gathered to release butterflies in honor or memory of their loved ones and enjoy the music of harpist McLain Mallory.
