Abernethy Laurels to Host Hershey Presentation

February 1, 2019

Abernethy Laurels is excited to welcome presenter Carl Shatley to their campus on Thursday, February 7 at 2pm to share the history, career, and life of Milton Hershey.

At one time, Hershey’s chocolate did not exist and there were few choices other than “hard candy” to enjoy. Milton Hershey changed everything in the candy world with his creations. Distinguished as the original American Chocolatier, Hershey was a self-made inventor, businessman, manufacturer, philanthropist, and utopian dreamer.

Presenter Carl Shatley will deliver an in-depth look into the life of a great American entrepreneur and interesting man only known for the chocolate bars that bear his name. Shatley holds a Master of Art Degree from Duke University in History and Bachelor of Arts in Art from Greensboro Collage and is an accomplished lecturer and artist.
