Abernethy Laurels to Welcome WWII Book Author Jerome O’Connor

September 25, 2018

Abernethy Laurels, an active retirement community in Newton, will welcome author Jerome M. O’Connor to their campus on Thursday, October 4 at 3pm for “A Tribute to the Greatest Generation.”

It was the war that defined the greatness of America as fought by 16 million Americans who saved civilization in its darkest hour. Chicago resident, journalist and author Jerome M. O’Connor will discuss excerpts from his book, “The Hidden Places of WWII,” to be released in spring 2019. Awarded Author of the Year at the U.S. Naval Academy, O’Connor will bring enthusiasm, seldom seen images, and readings from selected chapters, including details and photos describing actor and war hero Jimmy Stewart, who piloted 20 missions over Germany in a B-24 bomber.

To attend the free presentation, reservations can be made by calling Rob Hartsell at 828-465-8519.
