January 15, 2020

Abernethy Laurels is excited to welcome Carl Shatley on Thursday, January 23 at 2pm for a presentation on the life of Daniel Boone. The presentation will take place in the Community Center of Abernethy Laurels, located at 102 Leonard Ave. in Newton.

A trailblazing American frontiersman, Daniel Boone is synonymous with the exploration and settlement of Kentucky. Boone helped carve the Wilderness Road from Virginia to Kentucky to establish the Boonesboro settlement. Writer John Filson mythologized Boone’s life and made him the legend he is known as today.

Presenter Carl Shatley will bring the legend to life in his talk, “Living Legend: The Life of Daniel Boone.” Shatley is an accomplished educator, lecturer and artist who holds a Master of Arts Degree from Duke University and Bachelor of Arts from Greensboro College.
