Haunted History Presentation Coming to Abernethy Laurels

October 16, 2019

Abernethy Laurels is thrilled to welcome Carl Shatley on Wednesday, October 30 at 2pm for a presentation on the Salem Witch Trials. The presentation will take place in the Community Center of Abernethy Laurels, located at 102 Leonard Ave. in Newton.

Many are curious as to why Salem, Massachusetts is so synonymous with Halloween. Salem’s connection to Halloween began with the tragic events that unfolded during the Salem Witch Trials. Over 200 men, women and children were accused of practicing the “Devil’s Magic” or witchcraft. Since then, the story of the trials has become synonymous with paranoia and injustice.  Shatley will take the audience on a journey looking back over 300 years to find out why so many were accused and died in the name of the law.

Shatley is an accomplished educator, lecturer and artist who holds a holds a Master of Arts degree from Duke University in History and Bachelor of Arts in Art from Greensboro College.

Abernethy Laurels invites you to come sit for a “spell.” To make a reservation to attend, call Rob at 828.465.8519.
