Retirement Community Residents Receive Gifts of Love
February 19, 2015
Nearly 150 residents at Abernethy Laurels were surprised with special care packages on Valentine's Day because a local furniture company shared their generous spirit and talents.
Bassett Furniture, a Newton based furniture manufacturer, delivered the gifts and made sure no resident went unnoticed on a day that signifies love and friendship. Each of the nearly 150 cloth packages were handmade by their employees. The goodies inside of the packages were collected by some of the 500 employees at Bassett Furniture. Each carefully crafted care package carried a "loving message" to the residents at Abernethy Laurels, a continuing care retirement community.
"We wanted to do something special for area seniors. Valentine's Day gave us the perfect opportunity to do just that," stated Kathy Goodson, a customer service representative with Bassett Furniture. "Our company and its employees understand the importance of community involvement."
